JAILED: Gang of burglars and robbers brought fear in Derbyshire

Four men have been sentenced to a total of 21 years in jail for a series of burglaries and robberies, including in Derbyshire, which left victims feeling 'distraught and violated'.

The gang, from Liverpool, targeted 15 commercial and residential addresses during a three-month crime spree.

Earlier this month, the offenders appeared at Liverpool Crown Court for sentencing after admitting conspiracy to commit burglary, attempted robbery and robbery.

They are:

- Paul Ellis, 36, from Sennan Road, Kirkby, who was sentenced to eight years

- Jamie Downes, 31, from Linsdale Crescent, Kirkby, was sentenced to eight years and four months

- Lee Gallagher, 31, from Sandlewood Grove, Kirkby, was given three years and one month

- Alan Daniels, 34, from Brookhey Drive, Kirkby, was handed one year and seven months

Police said that between June 6 2016 and August 2 2016, the gang targeted commercial and residential premises in Merseyside, Stoke, Gateshead, Knutsford, Warrington, Widnes, Yorkshire, St Helens and Derbyshire. Officers have not revealed exactly where in Derbyshire the men struck but we are in the process of trying to find out.

DCI Simon Draco said: "The successful result is a testament to the team of detectives and forensic staff working together to make sure those responsible were going to be stopped in their tracks and put before the courts."

Investigating officer DC David Morgan added: "These men left their victims distraught and violated.

"Burglary has an immense effect on people with offenders targeting homes and businesses, a place where people should feel safe and secure."
