An intriguing life story to tell
Probus club members were intrigued by a talk entitled '˜Entirely Motivated by Idleness' given by one of its members at a recent meeting.
Don Mackenzie gave the talk to Bakewell and District Probus Club, in which he talked about his life from school age, right up to getting a degree and doctorate and pursuing a career in geology.
He became a lecturer and eventually occupied a senior position on the staff of the University of Derby (previously Derby College of Art and Technology). During his time there he was instrumental in the development of a computer-based system designed to test and assess the higher level skills of students.
