Current and prospective residents from Stonewater’s Cornmill House, in King Edward Street, Glossop, were able to pick up helpful information on the day, which was organised by Daniel Cairns and Jodie Overbury from the Glossop cadet scheme, as well as volunteer Katie Robin.

The group worked alongside PCSO Jack Barlow, who mentors the cadets, and Susan Hoolahan, Stonewater retirement living officer, to host the day.

Police Cadet Jodie Overbury said: “The information day was all about bringing services and support groups to one place where residents, who may find it difficult to get out and about, could pick up information and advice on a range of topics.”

The event saw community officers from Derbyshire Constabulary, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, and East Midlands Ambulance Service visiting the home to chat to residents about protecting themselves from the risk of crime and fire, along with personal health advice.

Representatives from Deaf and Hearing Support, Alzheimer’s Society, Healthwatch Derbyshire, Well Fit, and Wiltshire Farm Foods also supported the day, offering advice from health and support to keeping fit.

PCSO Jack Barlow said: “The information day was a great success and we are now looking to roll our similar community support days.”
