How will the new High Peak budget affect you?

Going swimming, burying a relative and trade recycling costs will all go up after High Peak councillors voted on the new budget for the next financial year.

Currently, the cost of an adult swim will rise from £3.40 to £3.50, while a junior or student swim will also go up 10p to make the price £2.10.

Teenagers who hold a B line card will see prices go up by five pence and an OAP swim will now be £2.50.

The decision for the budget was made last week at a full council meeting.

In this financial year, the cost of a burial plot in the High Peak will go up from £598 to £616.

Cremated remains with a burial will rise by £5 to £175.

Memorials including inscriptions and vases and tree sponsors will all go up, however, the burial of a child under 10 will remain free.

For business commercial waste charges, which include bin hire, collection and disposal costs will now be at £859.31 for a 1,100 litre bin which is an increase of £20.59.
