Plans for around 250 houses on land off Long Lane in Chapel-en-le-Frith are to be submitted early in the new year, the Advertiser understands.
Bank Hall Drive Developments is planning to submit an outline application for the 17.5-acre site, which is adjacent to the high school.
The application will not result in the loss of any of the school playing fields and will be submitted in early 2015, the developer says.
Local residents are being invited to have their say on the plans, which will include a mix of housing types, including affordable housing.
A spokesperson for the developer said: “The application is focused on affordable homes, bringing new families in to the area, supporting businesses and a chance for wider prosperity and local employment.”
