Buxton Press has scooped a top award for an incredible fourth time.
The Palace Road business was handed the Printing Company of the Year Award at the glittering PrintWeek Awards.
The firm made history last year as being the only company to have won the highly-coveted award three times – and in an unprecedented turn of events have topped their own achievement to retain the title for a second year.
At a spectacular movie-themed ceremony at the Grosvenor House on London’s Park Lane, managing director Kirk Galloway was presented with the prized trophy by event host Gyles Brandreth in front of 1,000 diners attending the event.
An ecstatic Mr Galloway paid tribute to his colleagues.
He said: “This isn’t just for the guys around here now, this is for everyone back at the factory who have worked hard all year to make this happen.
“It doesn’t take one person to pick up a trophy, it takes a team, and Buxton has got a fantastic team.”
Employing more than 130 local people, the company demonstrated sustained growth in sales and profit and is well into a £20million-plus investment programme – a major highlight of which has been the installation of four of the latest high-speed long-perfecting presses with all the trimmings.
One judge commented: “I just don’t know how Buxton keep doing it.
“They just get stronger and stronger.”
Buxton Press is currently entrusted with more than 630 titles and prints more than 54 million magazines every year.
It is a family-owned business which was founded in 1960.
