High Peak teen celebrates perfect set of GCSE results

It has been another superb year for MGS boys sitting their GCSE examinations, with 91% of all grades at A*-A or 9-7 level, and 68% of all grades at A* or 9/8 level. 32 pupils achieved straight 9-8 or A* grades, and 98 pupils gained seven or more 9-8 or A* grades.

The new 9-1 numerical grading scale for certain subjects - which replaces the old A*-G system - makes the 9 grade the most prestigious in the country, broadly equivalent to a grade above A*, and only a handful of pupils across the country will achieve it, making James’s achievement even more remarkable.

Overall, it has been another superb year for Manchester Grammar School boys sitting their GCSE examinations, with 91 per cent of all grades at A*-A or 9-7 level, and 68 per cent of all grades at A* or 9/8 level.

Thirty-two pupils achieved straight 9-8 or A* grades, and 98 pupils gained seven or more 9-8 or A* grades.
