A school has paid tribute to a ‘dedicated and talented teacher’.

Suzanne Lakie, 48, from Chapel-en-le-Frith, was a Y5 teacher and Special Needs coordinator at Harpur Hill Primary School.

Her death has brought sadness to the school and headteacher Vicky Giliker said: “Everyone at Harpur Hill will miss Suzanne who was a dedicated and talented teacher.

“In her role as year five teacher and Special Needs Coordinator she always went the extra mile to nurture the talents she recognised in our children. The children especially enjoyed their brass lessons where she enthusiastically joined in.

“She was loved by children and staff alike and our thoughts go out to her family at this very difficult time.”

The school have not given any reason for her death but in a letter to parents said they were “extremely shocked and saddened by this unexpected event”.

Her funeral will be on Friday, July 15 and pupils will be finishing at 12.30pm to allow the teachers time to pay their respects. If children can not be collected at 12.30pm please contact the school on 01298 23261.
