Bosses at Bakers Solicitors say they are delighted after they were the only firm in the High Peak to have been awarded a Legal Aid Duty Contract in the recent round of government bids.
This will make the Glossop firm duty solicitors for police station representation in Buxton.
Kirsten Collings, criminal law partner, said: “The bidding process was complex and lengthy.
“The Ministry of Justice have slashed legal aid funding enormously, and this tender process reduced the number of appointed firms from around 1500 nationwide to approximately 500. We are thrilled that our high standards have been recognised with this success.”
She added: “The recent cuts have hit the legal profession hard, so we are particularly proud to see Bakers continue to develop and grow with the addition of two new recruits.”
