Help feedBuxton's lonely and vulnerable this Christmas

Now in its third year, ‘Christmas in the Community - Buxton’ will be feeding people on December 25 at both the Source Cafe on Terrace Road and The Tradesman’s Entrance on Scarsdale Place.

Ruth Eyre, from Church in the Peak, will be helping out at The Source. She said: “We put on the Christmas dinner for the local community; people who need company or just can’t afford Christmas. And this year is going to be no different.”

Carolyn Berrisford, from The Tradesman’s Entrance, said: “No-one should be on their own and I just wanted to do something to help because my cafe has all the equipment to cook meals.

“We live in a wonderful world. I know there is a lot of destruction and sadness, but there are also wonderful people with kind hearts who want to help.”

The project is now looking for donations of food and presents, as well as offers from volunteers who could spare a few hours on the day to help with the cooking and washing up.

Ruth said: “I am setting this up early because the planning and organisation can take a while, and need to start getting ball rolling. If anyone would like to help, it’s always a lovely day. Even if it is just to help collect items, or help me deliver letters to shops and other places, that would be fab.”

Anyone who can help is asked to pop in to either of the cafes.
