HEALTH BOSSES have issued advice to help High Peak residents stay safe over the forthcoming bank holiday weekend.
NHS Derbyshire County are reminding patients to call their usual surgery number if they need to speak to a GP when their surgery is closed on Bank Holiday Monday, August 29 and they will then be directed to the out-of-hours service.
Patients are also being encouraged to think ahead and ensure they have any repeat prescriptions they need by calling into their local surgery or pharmacy in good time.
Most practices need at least 48 hours to process a repeat prescription request.
Out-of-hours services are available when GP surgeries are closed.
Out of Hours Walk-in services are available at the North High Peak Urgent Care Centre, at New Mills Health Centre which is open Monday to Friday from 6.30pm to 10pm and Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays from 9.30am to 10pm.
Alternatively, for minor injuries such as cuts and bruises, minor burns, scalds and minor head injuries, the Minor Injuries Unit at Buxton Hospital on London Road, Buxton is open from 8am to 10pm every day.
