Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson fell in love with Buxton’s Dome as soon as he saw it, his agent said.
The actor, who plays Ste Hay in the Channel 4 show, married long-term partner Carl Hyland at the Dome on Saturday in front of friends, family and dozens of his co-stars.
The wedding took just under 12 months to plan and was a very glamorous affair with a catwalk show of the bridesmaids before the wedding party made their entrance.Christine Sweetmore, Event Manager at the Dome
And the event was a huge coup for Buxton, with many local suppliers being used, and the majority of the guests staying locally.
Janet Freebury, Kieron’s agent, said: “He wanted somewhere with the wow factor, somewhere completely different. We did a Google search and came across the Dome and when we came to look at it, Kieron fell in love with it.
“The location was fantastic, Buxton is a lovely place.”
The happy couple had 12 bridesmaids – each wearing a different wedding dress – including Hollyoaks co-stars Jorgie Porter, Jennifer Metcalfe, Stephanie Davis and Gemma Merna as well as Inbetweeners star Emily Atack.
The 29-year-old had previously told newspapers his wedding was going to be a lavish affair and he wasn’t wrong as locals gathered outside the Dome to catch a glimpse of some of the famous faces descending on Buxton.
The evening reception included a catwalk show and a performance by The Drifters.
Among those attending the wedding were Hollyoaks co-stars Fabrizio Santini, Anna Passey and Stephanie Waring.
And Saturday’s wedding was the first civil ceremony to actually take place in the Dome itself. Christine Sweetmore, Event Manager at the Dome, said: “The wedding took just under 12 months to plan and was a very glamorous affair with a catwalk show of the bridesmaids before the wedding party made their entrance.
“We used as many local suppliers as possible for the event, Rollercoaster Productions provided the high gloss white catwalk and stage set for all the entertainment and an amazing light show for the Dome roof, and The Green Pavilion provided beautiful white flowers everywhere.
“The Dome looked absolutely stunning.
“Our hospitality and events students worked on the event which provided them with important real world learning experience and of course some great selfies!”
Christine added that one young fan had stood outside the Dome for seven hours until being told by his mum at 11pm that he needed to go home. When he mentioned it to the security staff, they told Kieron and he got all the Hollyoaks stars outside for a photo with him.
“He was bouncing down the road on the way home, bless him,” she added.
