Grant funding for crime prevention

Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Charles has revealed details of his first Crime Prevention Fund which offers cash support to crime prevention organisations.

Commissioner Charles has a total of £250,000 in funding to allocate to community groups, public sector bodies or charitable organisations which share his vision for a safer Derbyshire and support the priorities outlined in his Police and Crime Plan.

In the first phase of the funding programme, organisations in Derbyshire have until May 1 to apply for a share of more than £80,000 to help boost their efforts to address crime and tackle the social problems behind offending. This will be followed by two further opportunities in July and October.

Applicants can apply for a maximum grant of £25,000 while smaller grants of up to £5,000 are also available. Any organisation which applies for a grant of £5,000 or more will need to provide evidence of their success and provide frequent progress updates during the year.
