And the restored piano will be back in action at the Hardwick Square East church on Saturday April 14, at 7.30pm.

Church member Keith Savage said: “The URC grand piano dates from 1899 and has given many years of service and pleasure, but had reached the stage where some tender loving care was needed.

“Thanks to a generous grant from the Bingham Trust the piano has had a complete overhaul and is back in the church.

“Now that this valuable and beautiful instrument is back it is hoped that it will be played and heard regularly.”

The first performance will be a duet with Marianne Kelly and Heather Sargeson who will be playing Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals and Gershwin’s Rhapsody In Blue.
