Glossop musician Kenny Sturgeon’s first concert as principal oboe in Northern Chamber Orchestra

Glossop-based professional musician Kenny Sturgeon gives his first performance as the Northern Chamber Orchestra’s newly-appointed principal oboe.

He will play at the opening concert of the new Macclesfield Heritage Centre season on September 26, at 7.30pm.

Kenny and the orchestra will be joined by Stockport-born international violinist, Jennifer Pike, who will perform the magnificent Mendelssohn Violin Concerto.

Highlights in multiple award-winner Kenny’s career include erforming with the European Union Youth Orchestra (whilst being a post-graduate student at the Royal College of Music) under the legendary conductor, Vladimir Ashkenazy. Since graduating and pursing his freelance career, Kenny has performed with almost all of the orchestras in the UK and Ireland. He has appeared on many CD recordings and radio broadcasts for Classic FM and Naxos and has also performed at the BBC Proms on several occasions.
