‘Get Online’ to unlock cash pot

HIGH PEAK residents are being urged to help unlock a £7.39 million pot of Government funding to bring superfast broadband to the county.

This week is national ‘Get Online’ week, a Government drive to help everyone make the most of the internet for work and leisure, and local people are being urged to help Derbyshire County Council get a share of funding to improve broadband access in the county.

The authority has been allocated £7.39 million from the Government’s Broadband Delivery UK scheme to improve broadband access – but it must find the same amount in match-funding in order to receive the money.

A key part of this is demonstrating public demand for improved broadband to encourage companies to invest in Derbyshire and the county council is urging residents and businesses to complete its Community Broadband survey at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/broadbandsurvey.
