Get hired as an apprentice

Buxton and Leek College is campaigning to make young people aware of all the options available to them, in the wake of new laws which require people stay in education or training until they are 18.

The options include full-time study with A Levels or vocational BTECs and NVQs, work based learning, Traineeships and Apprenticeships.

But the college is putting a special emphasis on the apprenticeships it offers, which include: business; customer service; construction; engineering; hair and beauty; childcare; education; health; hospitality; information technology and computing.

Former apprentice of the year Coral Moulton – who went on to gain a first class degree in engineering – said: “Having the practical background from my course at Buxton and Leek College definitely helped and I’ve had some great support from my colleagues at JCB.”
