There was a fantastic atmosphere at the Silverlands this afternoon as a Buxton FC XI took on a Liverpool Legends team.

Popular former Buxton players, including all-time top scorer Mark Reed, and David Bainbridge, the club’s all-time appearance maker, made up the home team alongside the club’s current manager Martin McIntosh and a host of other fans favourites.

And the Liverpool Legends team, led by player/manager Phil Neal featured top names including Jason McAteer, Jan Molby, and Phil Babb, as well as Emmerdale star, and Liverpool fan, Danny Miller.

On a sunny day at the Silverlands, a large crowd enjoyed a good afternoon of football with plenty of goals, overseen by former Premiership referee Uriah Rennie.

Among the Liverpool goalscorers were John Durnin and Don Hutchinson while for the Bucks, goals came from Mark Reed and Martin McIntosh among others.

The event provided an afternoon of family fun, with a bouncy castle, face painting, and other attractions for kids, while parents could get their hands on signed Liverpool FC shirts and footballs in the auction, or enjoy a disco after the game.
