Full steam ahead at annual railway event

New Miils and District Railway Modellers Exhibition, Christopher Martin with his Peak Forest layout

The New Mills and District Railway Modellers Club held its 43rd event last weekend, which was hailed a success by visitors.

The annual exhibition took place at Chapel-en-le-Frith High School from February 25 to 26, and is expected to have raised thousands for charity.

Proceeds from the event will be distributed to High Peak worthy causes during the following year.

There was more than 20 layouts, operating together with six demonstrations including large scale models by Buxton Model Engineering Society.

There was also boats by the Buxton Model Boat Club and an array of trade stands for keen railway fans.

The ever-popular second hand room was open for business, offering visitors the chance to bag a bargain.

The exhibition main hall was full to the brim of exhibitionists keen to display their work. Ian Hallworth demonstrated his O gauge layout, while Ernie Mitchell showed off his display of military figures and vehicles. Christopher Martin was in attendance with his Peak Forest layout, as was Alastair Knox with his N gauge seaside layout based on Burnham on Sea.
