Former students are being invited to go along and open the eyes of current Buxton Community School pupils during its alumni event.

Staff say it is important to give the children an opportunity to explore all the career opportunities available to them.

Organiser Greg Smith said: “Having past students come back who now have careers in all walks of life is so beneficial to the students.

“It not only gives them an idea of what they want to do but also rules out what they don’t want to do too, and explores different career avenues they may have not considered.”

On Tuesday July 10, past students who are now chefs, beauticians, events managers or even theatre directors will be returning to their old school to tell the current cohort about their jobs.

Greg said: “The event, which will be laid out like a careers fair, will be open to all year groups and the younger children will have a conversation help sheet if they feel they need a hand to break down the barriers and start the conversation with one of our past students.”
