First call-out of 2014 for Peak District rescuers

A walker has been rescued after a fall in the Peak District.

In their first call-out of 2014, members of Buxton and Edale mountain rescue teams attended Upper Fulwood Farm in the Edale Valley on Thursday afternoon.

The 64-year-old casualty, from Bonsall, had slipped and sustained a suspected fractured ankle while descending a steep hillside above Edale End.

He was treated at the scene before being stretchered to a waiting ambulance and transferred to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
