Fire crews rescued a small child trapped in a car after parents' panicked at the peak of yesterdays hot weather.
Crews from Glossop were called to Longmoor Road in SImmondley to reports of a child 'trapped in a car' yesterday (May 9) at around 1.30pm.
A spokesperson for Derbyshire Fire & Rescue said: "The incident involved one 19-month-old child locked in a vehicle. The fire service gained entrance to the vehicle and rescued the child."
And the father of he child described the moment his young daughter looked herself in the car.
Dad Brett Rhodes said: "My mum put her in the car seat, she still had the car keys in her hand because she likes to lock the front door, without realizing my mum shut the car door, walked to the driver's door and my daughter had pressed the lock button and dropped the keys.
"She rang the fire brigade to see if they could break in, so they came and within 10 minutes of locking the car she was out.
"She was fine until they smashed the window which made her jump - no drama just a lesson learned and a funny story for when she's older."
