Fire cuts: last chance to have say

THERE’S just under a month left for people in the High Peak to have their say about plans to cut Buxton’s second fire appliance.

A public consultation into the plans closes on July 11 so residents can still have their say on the planned cuts.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service are consulting on proposals to remove the second appliance from Buxton Fire Station, leading to the loss of up to five retained or “on-call” firefighters. The service says the second appliance at Buxton, as well as at three other Derbyshire stations, “appear to contribute very little to fire cover requirements”.
