Festive fun at lights switch-on

There will be something for all the family to enjoy at Buxton’s Winter Celebration tomorrow (Friday).

Being held at the Pavilion Gardens, the Christmas lights switch-on and grand bazaar will run from 2pm to 8pm and has been organised by Buxton Sparkles.

Panto star Joseph Elliott, who plays Cook in the CBeebies series Swashbuckle will be flicking the switch to light up Buxton at 6.40pm.

Full programme of events: 2pm – 8pm grand bazaar in the Octagon; refreshments available; 5pm – 7.15pm Father Christmas in his grotto; children’s funfair; 5pm – 7pm Ride the train with the Snow Queen; 5pm – 5.05pm official opening by Bill Weston MBE, town crier; 5.05pm – 5.20pm performance by Kaleidoscope Choir; 5.20pm – 5.35pm performance by Buxton Infant School; 5.35pm – 5.50pm performance by Buxton Community School; 5.50pm – 6pm performance by The Mad Hatter Choir; 6pm – 6.30pm lantern parade led by the Ice King and High Peak Samba band; 6pm – 6.15pm Community singing with Will Hawthorne; 6.15pm - 6.20pm Peter Corbett from Air Ambulance; 6.20pm - 6.30pm community singing with Will Hawthorne; 6.30pm – 6.40pm countdown to switch-on with Joseph Elliot, Mayor and chaplain; 6.40pm – 7pm Fairfield Brass Band; 8pm Grand Bazaar closes.
