A POPULAR monthly market will welcome a new trader to its ranks on Saturday (June 11).
Julian Birtwell, a member of Trafford and District Woodcraft Club, will be showcasing an eye-catching selection of hand-fashioned items on Glossop’s Local Produce Market running from 9am to 3pm.
Saturday’s market is the fifth of 11 lined up by High Peak Borough Council this year. Offering top-quality produce at sensible prices, the sales attract scores of shoppers who then visit the regular outdoor market.
News on the produce market and its many traders is featured on Facebook, which shoppers can visit to have their say on how the market should develop. To get involved, visit www.facebook.com/glossoplocalproducemarket.
Ian Huddlestone, executive councillor for regeneration, said: “The Local Produce Market has proven enormously successful in providing a new outlet for local traders and in generating spin-off trade for the town centre.
“The market is also good news for the environment as its reliance on local goods reduces the number of miles travelled from producer to consumer. Having said that, we’re not resting on our laurels and are always looking for ways to improve our offer”, he urged.
Dates of the other markets are: July 9, August 13, September 10, October 8, November 12 and December 10.
