OVARIAN cancer sufferer Eilish Hoole is stepping up her campaign to raise awareness of the disease.
The mother-of-five, from Buxton, has put herself forward to take part in Target Ovarian Cancer’s fundraising Walk For One Million.
The ten kilometre ramble will be held in the grounds of Knebworth House stately home on Sunday, and is aimed at raising awareness and funds for the charity’s work to improve survival rates.
Eilish, who is living with ovarian cancer after being diagnosed with an advanced form of the disease five years ago, will be joined by a number of Buxton residents who will together make up ‘Team Eilish’.
“I’ve been more of a campaigner than a fundraiser, so I thought for this one big event I would do something a little bit different, and also it would be the perfect way to cap off the year,” she said.
Eilish has been instrumental in increasing awareness of the symptoms of ovarian cancer, helping push the disease up the political and health agenda.
