FAMILY learning is an exact science at a Buxton school — quite literally.
Pupils and their parents and carers have started a new free Family Learning Course which is being held after school at Buxton Junior School.
Over the past three years, the school has been developing family learning.
The lessons give parents and carers the opportunity to find out how things are taught in their own child’s school, as well as a chance to share ideas with other parents and develop their own skills.
Free courses that have been offered include ICT, Spanish, Tai Chi, English and maths, with science being the latest addition.
And according to headteacher Cecilia Minter, the new subject is already proving popular with families.
“We want to work with our parents/carers and it is wonderful to see adults and children having fun learning together,” she said.
The Mosley Road school also provides a creche to support parents and carers who might otherwise not be able to attend the lessons.
