HARPUR Hill Primary School’s Year 4 mini tennis team is to represent High Peak at the Derbyshire Summer Games’ County Final later this month after winning a competition in Buxton.
Thirty students from Buxton Junior, Harpur Hill and Burbage Primary schools took part in the event at Buxton Tennis Club on May 25, organised by Matt Slimming, of Champion Coaching Buxton.
During some exciting tennis, the players showed good athleticism and sportsmanship, with eventual champions Harpur Hill winning 13 of their 20 matches.
The competition was extremely close, with three teams tied for second place and having to be split by the number of points they had scored.
Results: Harpur Hill Murrays, won 13, points scored 170, points conceded 126; Burbage Murrays, won 10, scored 170, conceded 172; Buxton Junior Baltachas, won 10, scored 156, conceded 173; Harpur Hill Baltachas, won 10, scored 155, conceded 161; Burbage Baltachas, won 9, scored 159, conceded 160; Buxton Junior Murrays, won 8, scored 162, conceded 172.
