A childcare student at Buxton & Leek College has launched her own babysitting service using the power of social media, and business is booming.
Hannah Naden, 20, from Buxton, is nearing the end of her Level 3 Early Years course and began advertising her services on Facebook, only to find there was huge demand from parents wanting more than just a babysitter.
She said: “A lot of families now have both parents working long hours. I’m in demand to care for children before and after school. I take children to a local nursery at 7am and care for other pre-school children later in the day.
“The experience had made up my mind that I would like to work as a nanny once my college course is finished.”
She added: “I love working with children as they develop so rapidly, and I find it very rewarding to be part of that.”
To set up the business, Hannah has acquired public liability and car insurance, a DBS certificate, and qualifications in food hygiene and first aid.
College tutor Rachel McVeigh said: “Hannah has set herself up very professionally and, with her hard work and enthusiasm, she deserves to succeed. We are very proud of her achievements.”
