High Peak MP Andrew Bingham has welcomed news that crime has fallen by more than a quarter.
The figure of 27 per cent - the lowest level on record – is according to latest figures released from the independent Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Mr Bingham insists that the country as a whole is now a “safer place to live, work and raise a family” and
He said: “The latest crime statistics from the ONS are very encouraging, and it’s great news that crime is now at its lowest level on record.
“The independent Crime Survey of England and Wales shows that crime continues to fall under this Government, and in Derbyshire crime recorded by the police has fallen by 23% since 2010.
“This means that the High Peak - and the country as a whole - is a safer place to live, work and raise a family, and this will give people an added sense of security.”
