The event was part of an ongoing series of fundraisers attempting to generate £100,000 for ABF The Soldiers Charity and Support Our Parras.

It was also intended to raise awareness for the 100 Peaks Challenge which will see a team attempt to climb 100 of the UK’s highest peaks carrying full battle packs, and cycling and kayaking the journeys in between, in just 25 days in spring 2017.

The challenge has been organised by Mr Karl Rushen in memory of his brother Lloyd Newell who was killed during service in Afghanistan.
