Derbyshire police issued an appeal for information this afternoon (Sunday) following reports of a distressed young girl in Fairfield.
The appeal on social media said officers had responded to reports from a member of the public at around 5.10pm about a girl in a “very distressed state” in the Fairfield area.
Despite attending the scene, the girl could not be found, and Derbyshire police have since confirmed there have been no reports of a missing girl in the area.
The appeal said: “The informant said that the girl was approximately seven years-old and was walking along Victoria Park Road crying, pulling a black suitcase with flowers on.
“The girl had ginger hair and was possibly wearing a pink top.”
Anyone who has further information is asked to contact police on 101.
