Did vandals try to tap into Hathersage petrol station phone line?

Police are appealing for information after a phone wire at a petrol station in Hathersage was damaged.

At around 11.15pm on Saturday, October 10, staff at Barron's of Hathersage received a call from the store’s alarm monitoring company to state that there was an issue with the alarm.

When the staff member attended the garage and general store, on Main Road, there were no issues found.

The following day, when the garage reopened, staff noticed a fault with the telephone line and a telecommunications service found that a small length of the telephone wire on the outside wall of the property had been damaged and removed from its plastic casing.

Anyone with information, or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident, is being urged to contact PCSO Anthony Boswell from the Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101, quoting crime number 44212/15.
