Derbyshire’s tribute to fallen soldiers

HUNDREDS of present and former soldiers and their families will gather on Sunday, July 3, at the War Memorial in Crich.

The Annual Pilgrimage will be led by Brigadier A R D Sharpe OBE and will also be attended by the Lords Lieutenant, the High Sheriffs, Mayors and Civic Dignitaries from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

Before the Pilgrimage Service the families of the men of the Mercian Regiment recently lost in Afghanistan will gather at the named Post 1945 memorial for the Rededication of the extended memorial.

The unique Memorial Tower was originally built to commemorate the 11,409 men of the Sherwood Foresters who were killed in the First World War.
