Jeremy Richard Spender, 46, is accused of allegedly assaulting two people and he is also accused of exceeding the alcohol drink-drive limit.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Wednesday, March 9, how the offences are alleged to have been committed on January 26 in Rowsley, near Matlock.

Mr Spender, formerly of Sunnybank, Rowsley, is currently living at Theodore Road, Port Talbot, in Wales.

He pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

The court heard how Mr Spender is a police officer and he had been based at Buxton until theses allegations were raised.

District Judge Andrew Davison adjourned the case for a one-and-a-half day trial to take place on May 27 and May 31.

Mr Spender was released on conditional bail on the grounds he does not contact the complainants and others and does not go to Ashover or Darley Dale unless he has a pre-arranged medical appointment.
