Derbyshire museums and heritage schemes receive share of £12 million funding pot

Two Derbyshire museums and heritage projects are to receive a share of a £12 million funding pot from Arts Council England.

The money is to help the museums and projects to become more sustainable and resilient businesess.

Buxton Museum and Art Gallery will receive £94,500 to improve the entrance space of the Terrace Road museum, to create a welcoming and accessible public space with improved retail offer. It will also develop an e-retail shop with other museums in the area, making the most of local collections and commissioning new products by local artists.

Creswell Heritage Trust is to receive £140,000 to support its Rural Resilience project, which will focus on building more resilient models for volunteering, fundraising, governance, income generation and staff development. These developments will help make the trust more sustainable for the future, supporting its work creating opportunities for more people to engage with the area’s cultural heritage.

This latest investment from our Museum Resilience Fund is about helping our region’s museums become more sustainable businesses so their rich collections can be used and enjoyed for many years to come.”
