Police have confirmed the amazing recovery of a motorcyclist who was in critical condition after a High Peak crash.
A man was hospitalised with serious injuries after he came off his bike on Cracken View in New Smithy at 1pm today (Monday, November 16).
Police closed the A624 Hayfield bypass heading out towards Glossop following the accident between a motorbike and a car.
A police spokesperson said: "The incident involved a motorbike and a car, a Nissan Navara. The man on the motorbike was seriously injured and taken to Wythenshawe Hospital in South Manchester.
"But in a remarkable turnaround, he has been brought back from near death to being stabilised.
The force control room has now added: "He was believed to have died at the scene, had had minor internal bleeding to the chest area, fractured bones, and he was in cardiac arrest, but now he is stable, so amazingly, he has been brought back to life."
The police added that he remains in hospital in intensive care.
The road re-opened at around 6pm.
