Derbyshire fire chief Sean Frayne acquitted of rape charges

Derbyshire’s chief fire officer Sean Frayne has today been acquitted of all criminal charges following a rape trial.

The trial was held at Derby Crown Court from January 26 and concluded this morning.

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Authority issued a statement saying it acknowledges that the last year must have been difficult for everyone involved.

A spoeskman said: “As a matter of urgency, members of the Fire & Rescue Authority will now meet and further information will be issued when available.

Meanwhile interim arrangements remain in place for the on-going leadership of the service, ensuring the continuing safety of the people of Derbyshire.”
