Derbyshire crash leaves woman with broken arms and legs

A woman was rushed into surgery with broken arms and legs after she was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Derbyshire.

The woman, who has also broken several other bones, had to be cut free from her Citroën car after it was involved in a collision with a HGV on Chesterfield Road in Staveley.

Fire and rescue crews had to cut the roof from her vehicle and she was then taken to hospital in an air ambulance on Monday, December 21.

A police spokesman said: “The woman had to go straight into theatre to have an operation.

“She suffered with two broken legs, two broken arms, a broken collarbone and broken wrist.”

The incident took place at around noon and caused the road to be closed off until just after 5pm.
