Buxton’s independent and iconic shoe retailer is getting ready to relaunch.
In March, Bells Shoes made the shock announcement that it would be drawing its business operations to a close later this year.
However, a deal was struck earlier in the summer to keep open its popular store on Spring Gardens which will reopen in September 13.
Keith Martin, head of the family business, said: “My colleagues, all will be familiar to you, have given their commitment to make our new venture a success.
“I am personally touched by all the good wishes that our customers have sent - we are in a partnership with you.
“We are all committed to providing the service you have come to expect over the last 60 years.
“It won’t be long before we re-open our doors for business.”
The shop closed on August 4 for refurbishment and with a new stock delivery everything is now ready for the re-opening on Thursday, September 13.
Keith said: “My colleagues have worked very hard to prepare our store for re-opening my painters have done a great job and the new house colours of blue and white look wonderful.
“We have purchased stock for the autumn and with the change of weather we all feel the timing of the re-launch is perfect.
“Our suppliers have done wonders with our deliveries and most of our stock comes from mainland Europe.”
Keith, will now be running the independent store and the three Clarks franchise stores in Buxton, Leek and Macclesfield that were unaffected by the closure announcement with other son John.
Keith added: “Me and the staff are so excited about our new venture and looking forward to welcoming you all once again, and I hope all the staff who have retired from the from the business will join us as they have all contributed to our success.”
Adam Marsten head of wholesale at Hotter Shoes will officially open the store at 10am on Thursday, September 13.
