Daring escape from fire through first floor window

Firefighters rescued the occupant of a house by pulling them from the top floor of a building while the fire blazed on around them.

Crews from Glossop, Whaley Bridge and New Mills attended a house fire in Calver Mews in Glossop at around half past eleven yesterday (Tuesday, June 2).

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service the fire involved a two-storey house, where a fire had been started on the ground floor.

A spokesperson said: “The occupant had to be released by the firefighters from the first floor window with the use of a ladder. Fire crews extinguished the fire and police and ambulance were also in attendance. The crews left around two hours later at 12:22.
