Daring Buxton duo to skydive for Children in Need

A pair of shopworkers from Buxton are gearing up to take the plunge with a sponsored skydive next month to help Children in Need.

Pandora Jewellery store manager Sarah Cannings, 36, and her assistant Emma Faulkner, 24, will travel to Peterborough on Sunday November 6 for a tandem jump.

The company fundraises in support of the national event every year, but the pair decided that they would go one step further - out the door and 13,000 feet straight down.

Sarah said: “We’re only a little nervous. It’s not quite sunk in yet. Although I’ve just come back from holiday and I was sat on the aeroplane trying to believe I would jump out of one.

“It’s going to terrifying to actually jump, but I think we’ll be ok once we’re on the way.”

Sarah said they had both wanted to challenge themselves, and that fundraising has given them the added bit of courage they will need.

She added: “As soon as we booked it there was a bit of ‘Oh my God’, but we want to do this for our brilliant team, our great company and most of all for those children.

“We hope some of the money will find its way to local youngsters and families who really need it.”

They are aiming to raise £1,000 through friends, family and neighbouring businesses in The Springs centre.

The shop will also be selling special edition Pudsey charms in the run-up to Children in Need, with 20 per cent of each sale going to the cause.
