Two charged as police crackdown on drugs activity in New Mills

Two 36-year-old men have been charged with drugs offences following a targeted police operation in New Mills.

At around 1.45pm on Wednesday, October 21, officers executed a warrant a property on Peak Road in connection with suspected drugs activity.

A quantity of suspected Class A drugs were discovered at the address and seized by police.

On the same day, officers discovered a quantity of suspected Class A drugs after carrying out a stop search on a man on St Georges Road, New Mills.

Jason Blakeley (36) of High Street, New Mills has been charged with possessing class A drugs.

He is due to appear before Magistrates in Buxton on Monday, November 9.

Charlton Hicks (36) of Peak Road, New Mills has been charged with possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.

He appeared at North East Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates Court on Friday, October 23 where he was recalled to prison.

Officers from the New Mills and Hayfield Safer Neighbourhood Team would like to encourage the community to report any activity where they suspect drug dealing might be taking place.
