Thieves target van and tent in Chapel-en-le-Frith

Thieves stole tools and a fridge freezer from a van and a tent in Chapel-en-le-Frith.

Between 7.15pm on Thursday, April 23 and 7.40am on Friday, April 24, thieves broke into a van that was parked on the driveway of a property on Rowton Grange Road, Chapel.

A brown leather wallet, power tools and accessories were stolen from the silver Ford Transit.

A portable fridge freezer and four garden chairs were stolen after thieves broke into a trailer tent on the driveway of a property on High Street in Chapel.

The incident is believed to have taken place sometime between midnight and 7.30am on Friday, April 24.

Following these incidents, police are issuing advice on the steps that residents can take to better protect their property from being targeted by thieves.

Motorists are being urged to ensure that their vehicles are properly secure with the windows up and doors locked before leaving them unattended. Make sure no items are left on display to catch the eye of passing opportunists and remove them completely where possible.

Other advice includes ensuring that Sat-Navs and their cradles are removed, along with wiping away any ‘sucker’ marks. Park in well-lit, overlooked areas where possible and consider using a steering lock, alarm or tracking device for added security.

Residents are being actively encouraged to remain vigilant and to report anyone acting suspiciously to police to help to stop a crime from happening.
