A mosaic was stolen from Gamesley Woodlands in Glossop just hours after it had been installed.

The mosaic was installed along the path on Wednesday. It had been made by members of Project eARTh, an arts an wellbeing project for those experiencing mental distress or other long term conditions.

It was stolen between 3pm on Wednesday and 9.30am on Thursday - shortly after it had been installed by the Derbyshire County Council countryside service.

It had been set in concrete so whoever took it would have had to chisel it out.

Alison Bowry, from the project, said: “We are saddened and angered by this and are publicising it widely in the hope we might track it down. The mosaic was for the enjoyment of the whole community. We have not had the celebratory event yet, so the people who made this have not even had a chance to see their art work installed in its proper place.”

If anyone saw a person with the mosaic (pictured), other than the DCC Ranger who was installing it, call Derbyshire Police on 101.

A reward of £50 is being offered by High Peak Community Arts.
