A Buxton man who stole clothes from a recycling bin, along with items from the same shop on two consecutive days, has been given a community order.
Anthony Ryan Rowe was seen on CCTV to take items from the recycling bin at the Waitrose car park on August 9, High Peak Magistrates’ Court heard.
Checks revealed he was on bail with conditions not to interfere with any refuse or recycling container in a public place, prosecutor John Cooper said.
Clothing was found in a bag Rowe was carrying with him but he couldn’t account for where it had come from.
The 25-year-old, of Cheedale, Fairfield, admitted theft.
He also pleaded guilty to stealing four SanDisk 16GB SDHC cards from Argos on August 22, taking three SanDisk USB sticks from Argos on August 23, stealing two bars of Dairy Milk from Sainsbury’s on November 17 and failing to answer bail on October 15.
James Riley, defending, said: “It is relatively low level dishonesty and shoplifting against a background of drug use which has blighted his life.”
Rowe was given a 12-month community order with a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement, a six-week curfew from noon to 10pm and 12 months supervision.
He must pay a total of £120.93 compensation for the items which were stolen.
