A Glossop man who repeatedly stamped on his partner’s face has been spared jail.
Gareth Hinchliffe appeared at Derby Crown Court for sentence on Monday when he received 12 months in prison, suspended for 24 months. He must also complete 80 hours’ unpaid work and pay £285 costs and a £100 surcharge.
High Peak Magistrates’ Court had earlier heard how Hinchliffe and his partner Sarah Jane Booth had been out with family members on July 12 when Hinchliffe became involved in a fight with another male.
When the couple returned home, Hinchliffe became angry and stamped on Ms Booth’s head and face several times.
Hinchliffe, 26, of Silk Street, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Kirsten Collings, defending, said he was gutted about what had happened.
