Thieves have stolen prescription drugs from a pharmacy in New Mills.

At 10.37pm on Tuesday, thieves smashed the door of Boots on Hyde Bank Road, setting the alarm off.

Police went to the scene and officers saw a white Mercedes Sprinter van, with a registration plate ending in YET, driving along Hyde Bank Road on their way to the chemist.

The van had been stolen from Cheshire and police believe it is linked to the burglary.

The thieves took a quantity of diazepam tablets from the chemist, which is at the Sett Valley Medical Centre.
