Police in Buxton have issued a message to parents after attending a large gathering of young people in the town.

Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Team posted on Facebook last night: “Safer neighbourhood officers have just been to the playing fields off Green Lane in Buxton after a report of 60 youths drinking and climbing on the roof of the changing rooms.

“On arrival we were confronted by many groups all in breach of the Rule of 6 with most being very drunk, unfortunately the mess left behind by most is nothing short of disgraceful.

“PARENTS DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR KIDS ARE TONIGHT?”

On Monday, the lockdown rules eased as part of the next step of the Government’s roadmap. This means the stay at home order has ended, and is instead replaced with a stay local directive. In addition, people are now allowed to gather outside in groups of up to six, or two households.
