Police increase patrols after spate of thefts from vehicles in Buxton

Police are increasing patrols after a number of thefts from cars parked on residential streets in Buxton.

The thefts took place between Wednesday, April 17 and Thursday, April 18.

A Peugeot van was broken into on South Avenue, Buxton, between 4.30pm on Wednesday and 8am on Thursday. A window was smashed and cash taken from inside.

A sat nav was stolen from a Ford Transit van that had been parked on Oaklea, between 7pm on Wednesday and 8.30am on Thursday.

Between 10.30pm on Wednesday and 6.15am on Thursday, a Ford Fiesta was broken into on Hastings Road and a sat nav system stolen.

An iPod music player was taken from another car on Hastings Road, which was searched after offenders smashed a window between 5.30pm on Wednesday and 6.15am on Thursday.

Three vehicles were broken into on Berwick Road between midnight and 6am on Thursday. A Volkswagen Polo, Mitsubishi Colt and Nissan Almera all had windows smashed and were searched but nothing was taken.

Thieves also smashed the window of a Citroen Xsara parked on Ferneydale Avenue, between 12.30am and 5am on Thursday, and made off with a reversing camera.

Detectives are linking the above thefts and would like to hear from anyone who may have information relating to any of them.
